NOTICE: Changes to ACH Processing Times

Effective September 15, 2017, faster processing of Automated Clearing House (ACH) debits and credits goes into effect. The new rules do not affect the existing procedures for debit card transactions but, virtually ALL other electronic payments are eligible to be processed on the same day as they are originated if they meet certain conditions. This will speed up the payment system, which will benefit you when receiving a payment but also means when you are making a payment, it could clear your account the same day you authorize the payment. Make sure funds are available in your account to cover payments you make whether by check, online, through billpay or by telephone to avoid incurring NSF fees.

Important: Changes for Marshall County Branches

Dear Customer,

There are changes afoot in our Marshall County branches! As customer demands are changing with technology and the busy pace of life, The Southern Bank Company wants to be your best partner for all your banking needs. To enable us to not only provide great service in the branches, but out in the community, we will be taking a more outward approach to our services. We will be checking in with you in advance if you have a CD or loan maturing to explain your possible options before you have to come to the bank, or accomplish your wishes over the phone when possible. We hope this will make your decisions and transactions easier, and avoid unintended renewals or hasty decisions. We will also be happy to bring our services to you whenever possible, meeting you at your office or at a convenient location at a predetermined time, with paperwork ready to go.

In order to make these initiatives possible, beginning January 2, 2017, our Albertville branch will become a drive through only branch, with lobby service by appointment. Call the office at 256-878-0314 to schedule your appointment. Our Guntersville branch will continue to have traditional lobby and drive through service. Both location will have the same ours of 9AM – 4PM Monday through Thursday, and 9AM – 5PM on Fridays. The Southern Bank Company will continue to provide the same great location service, and hopes these changes will enable us to be a better partner for you and your family or business.

So remember beginning January 2, 2017:

The Albertville Office will be Drive through Only, unless by appointment.
The Guntersville Office will remain Full Service.
Both offices will have the same hours and be open from 9 AM – 4 PM Monday through Thursday and until 5 PM on Friday.
Both office will be closed daily from 1 PM – 2PM for lunch.

About the New Cards

In a continued effort to protect our customers, The Southern Bank Company will be issuing new chip-enabled MasterCard Debit Cards to our customers beginning August 1, 2016. The new cards look a little different with a computer chip located on the front of the card. Chip-enabled cards and terminals work together to make it more difficult to replicate your information. Please read over the Frequently Asked Questions and contact your local branch if we can help you in any way.
